General Update: Absence and Moving Forward

Long Break:

Sometimes you gotta take a break from all the noise and appreciate the beauty of silence
– Robert Tew

I spoke on Twitter back in December about taking a break from making blog posts until after the holidays. I wanted to spend two weeks or so just spending time with my family and taking a break away from academia and the likes. As you all can tell by my feed and blog notifications those two weeks were obviously extended into about two months. While I do apologize for that, I must say that it was much needed and that I am excited to see what the future has in store for both this page and in other aspects of my life. I most certainly have some big plans and life changes that are expected to take place in the near future.

With that, it is important that I, and my readers, keep in mind that while I am making a good attempt at sticking to a regular schedule with posting, social media, and the like, academics and my job must come first. I am, as of today, exactly three months away from graduation. While I would love to somehow turn writing and blogging into a stable career, I need to focus on finishing school and getting accepted to my next program. The support from all of you means the world to me, and I can’t wait to show you all what I have planned!

Looking Ahead:

I look to the future because that’s where I’m going to spend the rest of my life.
– George Burns

I’m really excited to plan out my schedule for this semester and give a bit more in regards to this page. Starting this week, the posting schedule will look as follows:

»» Mondays: Research and academic updates
»» Fridays: Book reviews

As this says, Mondays will be reserved for posting about my personal research and academic updates. Whether it be from conferences, recognition, or important deadlines, to glimpses of research from my thesis. This is in no way a method of me trying to publish my thesis on this platform, but rather to store my own thoughts as well as create a conversation. Please remember to follow me on Twitter at @kngblogger for more of this sort of information, and more of an insight into my journey towards graduation.

Fridays will follow the format that has been shown most recently on this blog. Each week I will select a book that I have read/am reading for research in class or my thesis and talk about it, including offering my personal opinion on the book and its argument. Requests are always welcomed and should be submitted through the “Contact” tab in the menu bar.

I’m going to leave Wednesday open as another day for posting in the event that I come up with what I can post on those days. If you have any suggestions as to what you would like to see on this site, please submit those through the “Contact” form as well. I also want to state now that these days are loosely established, and my personal schedule might get in the way of making a post on the due day. If that happens I will be sure to update Twitter with when the post is to be expected. Because it has already been planned out, I will be taking another short break from March 1st until March 8th, and again from April 25th to May 6th.

I know this post was not the usual format that I have been following, but I wanted to provide a brief update as to where I have been and why my posts and reviews suddenly just stopped. It is my hope that that does not happen again.

Best regards,

Kelsey Gordon
